Megan Smeaton
PhD Student
Megan graduated from the University of St Andrews with an MChem in 2020. Her final year’s project was on ‘metal oxalates positive electrodes for lithium and sodium ion batteries’ under the supervision of Dr Robert Armstrong and Prof. Phil Lightfoot. She then moved to the University of Galway, Ireland as a Marie Curie researcher working on photocatalysis, energy storage and solar fuels as part of the Horazions2020 Solar2Chem project. Megan then became an associate lecturer at Lakes College West Cumbria, designing courses in partnership with the Open University, specialising in low-carbon energy technologies.
In 2024 Megan returned to St Andrews to begin her PhD studies with Agratas. Her research focuses on moisture stable P2/P3 type transition metal oxides for sodium ion batteries.
