Alexis Manche

PhD Student

Alexis grew up in a small town in central France, and then moved to the South West of France in Bordeaux to continue his studies. During his B.Sc he learned the basics of physics and chemistry  and then headed for a M.Sc. in Physics-Chemistry and Chemical-Physics during which he had the chance to work on two projects:

  • In 2019 at the ICMCB Institute in Bordeaux with the subject: “Synthesis, characterisations and electrochemical properties of new positive electrode materials of NASICON type for Li-ion batteries.”
  • In 2020 at the Materials Research Laboratory at the University of California Santa Barbara he worked on first principles calculations to predict the NMR properties of paramagnetic battery materials.

In September 2020, Alexis started his PhD supervised by Dr. Robert Armstrong on the NEXGENNA project funded by The Faraday Institution. His research project is about studying the challenge of polyanion redox in oxalates for Li-ion and Na-ion battery applications.
