Joel Jr Cabaero

PhD Student


Joel graduated from the University of the Philippines, Diliman with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. He then became one of the scholars of ALISTORE-ERI network’s Erasmus Mundus Joint Master on Materials for Energy Storage and Conversion (MESC) where he studied at Université Paul Sabatier in France, Warsaw University of Technology in Poland and Universidad de Cordoba in Spain. He spent his master’s final semester at the University of St Andrews working on organic dicarboxylate anodes for sodium-ion batteries under the supervision of Dr. Rob Armstrong and Prof. Russell Morris. In 2020, he returned to St Andrews for his PhD studies to work on the Faraday Institution’s NEXGENNA project.

Prior to starting his PhD studies, he took research positions at Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland and the Department of Science and Technology in the Philippines.
